Why is Wi-Q Technologies not a mobile ordering app?

When the idea of user device ordering was conceived by our founder in August 2014, Wi-Q Technologies, like many others developers, started with an app-based solution, however the user restrictions this presented demanded a rethink. Here’s why:

  1. Apps are device restrictive; you cannot use an app from a laptop
  2. Apps are often difficult and time-consuming to download
  3. Apps crowd the real estate on a user handset and as the app market becomes more and more saturated, this only increases user frustration and brand devaluation
  4. Generically branded apps will not provide brand equity for delivering the digital ordering experience and benefits
  5. Apps cannot afford a specific branded solution whilst remaining ubiquitous
  6. Apps consume memory and thus battery power
  7. Apps often require software updates and therefore demand a level of user maintenance
